ABOUT US
OUR HISTORY
TSC started from humble beginnings in 2020, and through God’s grace and provision we find ourselves today very grateful and thankful for the opportunities to serve His community.

Mary’s Journey into Social Impact & Global Service
Mary grew up in Seoul, Korea, inspired by her pastor father and his missionary friends who brought hope to their neighborhood. After 15 years in corporate America in leadership & management positions, she joined an NGO serving vulnerable populations overseas. With 12 years in social enterprises and programs, and certifications as a mental health and life coach, Mary believes everyone has a unique gift to serve, build up others, and belong in the community.
The Shine Community is simply who we are, what we value and what we love. We get to live out what we believe in, and see how God shows up every day. We don’t strive to get bigger – we long to be better and deeper. Better at doing good works that serves others, not just ourselves. Deeper in caring for one another and the local community. And ultimately, deeper with God as we delight in belonging to God’s family.

Wallace’s Commitment to Wellness & Community Care
Wallace grew up in a family devoted to faith and service—his mother a missionary to Japan and his father gifted in serving others. With 26 years as a chiropractor, he believes in holistic wellness—physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional—achieved through supportive programs and social connection in a safe community.

I was raised in a family devoted to service, and it taught me that true wellness encompasses body, mind, and spirit. I believe that with care, connection, and meaningful support, everyone can live healthier, fuller lives in a safe, nurturing community.

A Calling to Serve the Disability Community
Mary and Wallace married at 46—a miracle that led them to a special calling: serving the disability community in a loving, inclusive environment. Wallace, an uncle to a nephew with Asperger’s Syndrome, understood firsthand the challenges people with disabilities face. After visiting the BEE Community in College Station, TX, they were inspired by the joy, dignity, and sense of belonging experienced by artisans, volunteers, and staff. They realized God’s love is fully expressed when no one is meant to be alone.
Our marriage at 46 felt like a miracle, but even more miraculous was discovering our calling to serve the disability community. Visiting the BEE Community showed us how God’s love can restore dignity, joy, and belonging to every life.
